Overview
Budgetoid is designed as a local-first budgeting app. Your budgeting data (projects, categories, transactions and preferences) is stored on your device.
In the future, you’ll have an option to create an account and move your project to the cloud for backup and sync. This will be strictly opt-in and explained in more detail when it becomes available.
Data stored on your device
Budgetoid stores your budgeting data locally on your device. This may include:
- Projects and project settings
- Transactions (amounts, dates, categories and notes)
- Categories and subcategories
- Display and app settings (such as time format or theme)
This information is kept in local storage (for example, using the app database and preferences). It is not automatically sent to any remote server by the app.
Optional camera and photos
Budgetoid may request access to your device’s camera or photo library (for example, if you decide to attach or capture images inside the app).
Any images you choose to capture or select are used only inside the app. They are stored on your device and are not uploaded to a remote server by Budgetoid.
You can revoke camera or photo permissions at any time in your device’s system settings.
Analytics and crash reporting
To understand how Budgetoid is used and to improve stability and performance, the app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google.
These services may collect information such as:
- App usage events (for example, which screens are visited)
- Crash reports and error details
- Basic device information (device model, OS version, app version)
- Approximate usage time and general technical diagnostic data
This information helps identify problems, measure basic usage and improve the app over time. Your budgeting content (such as specific transaction amounts or notes) is not used by Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics for advertising purposes by Budgetoid.
For more details on how Google processes this data, please refer to Google’s and Firebase’s own privacy documentation.
Third-party services
The following third-party services may process limited technical data related to your use of Budgetoid:
- Firebase Analytics (usage analytics)
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash and error reporting)
These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. You may wish to review their documentation to understand how they handle information.
Cloud accounts and sync (future feature)
A future version of Budgetoid may introduce optional accounts and cloud sync, allowing you to back up your projects and access them from multiple devices.
If and when this feature becomes available, it will be clearly presented in the app with a separate explanation. You will be able to choose whether to use it or to keep your data on your device only.
This Privacy Policy will be updated to describe how synced data is handled before cloud accounts are introduced.
Children’s privacy
Budgetoid is intended for general use by adults managing their own finances. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can control how Budgetoid uses your device features by:
- Managing permissions such as camera and photo access in your device settings.
- Choosing whether to continue using the app if you are not comfortable with this Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, for example when new features (such as cloud sync or accounts) are added.
When the policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. In some cases, important changes may also be highlighted inside the app.
